"Twelve kilometres north of Hobart's city centre, MONA is burrowed into the Triassic sandstone of a peninsula jutting into the Derwent River. Arrayed across three underground levels, the $75-million museum created by local philanthropist-owner David Walsh mixes ancient antiquities among contemporary artworks. It's sexy, provocative, disturbing and deeply engaging – don't miss it.To get here, catch the MONA ferry or MONA Roma shuttle bus from Hobart’s Brooke St Pier."

"Next, make your way to the famous MONA (Museum of Old & New Art), a unique interactive museum that is sure to leave an impression with some downright crazy exhibitions including an entire wall of 100+ uniquely shaped vaginas. Allow at least 2 hours. Not for the vaginas, but for the whole museum."

Famous Museums in Hobart
"More than the museum, it will be the grand old Georgian premises with its rose gardens and magnificent town house that will enamor you. The Narryna Heritage Museum depicts the life of the bourgeoisies of the Tasmanian region. Built by Captain Andrew Haig, the house where the museum has seen many a residents before it was transformed into a folk art museum and a heritage museum."

"This fabulous community-owned museum on the roadside just south of central Margate is well worth a stop. A series of intimate, passionately curated display spaces shines a light on local history, covering (among other things) Aboriginal culture, forestry, boating, fishing, whaling, schooling, toys, bushfires and military and migrant history. And check out the amazing collection of 700-plus cameras! An outstanding little museum."

Crafty Crawls: Hobart – The Breweries
"You'll need to rely on planning – or good luck – to manage a stop at Captain Bligh's if you’re visiting from out of town as it tends to only open one Friday each month. Should you be there for such a Friday, you'll find it occupying a series of vaguely connected rooms inside the Tasmanian Brewery Building, a large and striking heritage building just around the corner from Shambles. It started out as Punshon's Brewery in the 1830s, becoming the James Tasmanian Pale Ale Brewery, then The Adams Brewery and finally the Co-Operative Brewery."

Crafty Crawls: Hobart – The Breweries
"It’s quite the hike between Hobart Brewing and Shambles to start this Crawl but, once you arrive, you’ll agree it’s worth the effort for two key reasons. For one, the views you’ll take in while wandering along the waterside are particularly fantastic; secondly, and more importantly for beer fans, once you arrive at Shambles you’ll hit the start of a ménage à trois of breweries within a few hundred metres of each other. Shambles first opened at the start of 2016 and has managed to become the sort of brewpub that effortlessly proves combining good beer with good hospitality equals good times."

8 Of The Best Things To Do In Hobart's MidTown
"About four craft breweries have cropped up in this part of town recently, but the best has to be Shambles. It has pulled off the marriage of a sleek, industrial-chic bar (lots of timber and steel), with tasty, refreshingly crisp ales. Head to 222 Elizabeth Street in the late afternoon to join office workers enjoying a post-work pint."
